Cicero: The Life and Times of Rome's Greatest Politician - Anthony Everitt Interesting and yet lacking. Proof that a brilliant politician (and writer/orator) does not necessarily make for engrossing reading. The historical figures surrounding Cicero (Julius Caesar, Octavian, Mark Antony, etc.) are so much more interesting and overshadow the central focus of this book. Everitt does his best to make Cicero pop on the page, but unfortunately, it falls a little short.
