CivilWarLand in Bad Decline - George Saunders In retrospect, I wish I hadn't read this from front cover to back. I should have picked stories at random over a period of time, maybe while reading something else, so each piece would stand out as an individual work in my memory. Saunders is a fantastic writer, with a feel for gritty humor and word play, but unfortunately so many of these fade into one another. The stories were all quite different but the themes didn't vary much, and as such most didn't stick in my brain.

Isabelle, on the other hand, is a must-read. This story will stay in my head for a long time, I think.
